Corporate Wakala Investment

The Wakala Investment is a Shari’a Compliant product used for investing funds. The Muwakkil/Investor appoints a counterparty (Wakil/Bank) to invest funds on its behalf for a fixed period. The Wakil informs the Muwakkil / Investor of an anticipated profit rate that will be delivered at maturity in addition to the invested amount. The proceeds of the funds will be invested in the Wakil’s pool of Shari’a compliant assets. The Wakil will charge a fixed agency fee for such services. Any profit amount exceeding the anticipated profit after deducting the agency fee will be retained by Wakil, as an incentive for his good performance.
